Introduction
I am Mátyás Bogdán, ceramic maker, designer and masonry stove creator. I have been making décor ceramics and kitchen ceramics since 1986 and masonry tiles since 2000. My useful bowls and plates are made from highly heat resistant clay with lead-free glaze.
When making them on a pottery wheel, I strive to create a simple, aesthetic, nicely arched shape as I know that a beautifully made ceramic item is a joy to behold. I aspire to give this joy to an abundance of people all the while showing them that the pots and plates used by the men of the past can stand their ground in the kitchens of the modern times and embellish our homes for a long time. They symbolise stability in the consumerist society of today, taking part in our daily life.
In my work I attempt to produce aesthetically pleasing, useful and loveable items from quality materials. As I see, today’s man has an increasing need for uniqueness, the mass production is becoming alienating, the constant consumption is becoming tiring, sustainability, practicality and aesthetics are much desired.
